AFC MA Ranking: Tajikistan eyeing Champions League

AFC announced the MA ranking in November 2014, using the October 2014 FIFA ranking for the NT ranking part of the formula. So should they announce a new ranking (possibly used to determine the allocations for the 2017 club competitions), Singapore are in for some bad news.

Here's how things stand after the quarterfinals of the AFC Champions League and AFC Cup.

Tajikistan replace Singapore in the top 24 - those are the associations eligible to receive direct slots in the AFC Champions League. Granted, Singapore received only a play-off spot for the 2015 and 2016 editions.

Best movers:

9 - Bhutan
5 - Syria, Hong Kong
4 - Tajikistan, Timor-Leste

Worst movers

-8 - Sri Lanka
-5 - Nepal
-4 - Uzbekistan, Lebanon, Macau

  1. Sincerly, I didn't understand how the NT points are calculated. I.e. Iran in the October 2014 ranking had 560.09 points. The instructions said the 30% of the points are taken into account but the 30% of 560.09 is 168.027.
    Probably I miss something stupid..

  2. Looking at October 2015. Iran will have 703 points and will get 30 points (maximum) for the NT part. Other teams' NT points will be calculated like this: FIFA points * 30 / 703. Hope it makes sense.

    1. The 2016 edition allocation has already been announced. Indonesia still have time to resolve their issues until the 2017 allocations are announced.

    1. Because Cambodian clubs didn't participate in AFC club competitions. Earn points, climb in the ranking and you'll get the AFC CL spots.

  7. I took a look at the AFC Club Ranking released by AFC on 26 November 2015. 7 KSA clubs got 329.83 points and 6 KOR clubs got 307 for 4 years. I don't know how KOR got only 61.911 for club points when KSA got 70(max).
