FIFA Women's Ranking: August 2012 final preview

FIFA will publish the ranking on 17 August 2012.

FIFA have confirmed by e-mail Great Britain matches won't be included.

Best movers:

5 - Wales and South Africa
2 - Iceland, New Zealand, Austria, Hong Kong, Zimbabwe and Ethiopia


Worst movers:

-4 - Hungary
-3 - Korea DPR and Slovakia
-2 - Sweden, Republic of Ireland and Uruguay


Most points gained:

49 - USA
35 - Wales and South Africa
21 - Canada

Most points lost:

-47 - Sweden
-26 - Korea DPR and Republic of Ireland
-19 - Czech Republic

Two teams will improve their best ever ranking:

Austria (35 - 37 in December 2008)
Wales (38 - 43 in June 2012)

Six teams will return to their best ever ranking:

France (5 - first achieved in March 2005)
Australia (9 - first achieved in July 2011)
Italy (10 - first achieved in July 2003)
Iceland (15 - first achieved in September 2011)
Switzerland (25 - first achieved in September 2011)
Belarus (37 - first achieved in December 2011)

Six teams will return to their worst ever ranking:

Sweden (6 - first happened in March 2005)
Russia (20 - first happened in November 2010)
Ukraine (23 - first happened in December 2011)
Czech Republic (26 - first happened in September 2011)
Hungary (39 - first happened in June 2008)
Chinese Taipei (43 - first happened in March 2012)

China PR will drop to a new low - 19. They were 18 in December 2011.

    1. Because after the top 100 there are various problems as inactive teams or teams with provisional ranking - that complicate the process.
