AFC MA Ranking update (29 April 2016)

AFC announced the MA ranking in November 2014, using the October 2014 FIFA ranking for the NT ranking part of the formula.

The 2016 edition of the MA ranking, set to be announced at the end of the AFC club competition season, will be used to determine the slot allocations for 2017 and 2018 seasons. This had been announced by the AFC Competitions Committee on 12 April 2016.

... the allocation for the AFC Champions League places for both the 2017 and 2018 seasons would be decided by the AFC MA ranking on November 30, 2016.

Many thanks to AFC's James Kitching for the info.

Club points updated after the 5th match day of the AFC CL and AFC Cup group stages. FIFA ranking points computed for November 2016, considering scheduled matches as defeats.

Using the same conditions as those in the 2016 AFC CL (i.e. Kuwait and Indonesia suspended; Iraq, Oman, Bahrain, Lebanon and Syria with no licensed clubs), Qatar, China PR and United Arab Emirates would gain the most with regard to slot allocation, while Uzbekistan and Japan would be on the losing end.

West

Uzbekistan the biggest losers, as they will lose 2 direct group stage spots.

UAE: 3 direct group stage slots + 1 play-off slot, instead of 2 + 2 in the 2016 CL.
Qatar: 2 + 2 instead of 1 + 2.
Uzbekistan: 1 + 2 instead of 3 + 1.

East

Philippines eligible for CL preliminary round - assuming their champion gets the license. Singapore drop out of the top 24 and won't get a CL preliminary slot.

China PR: 3 direct group stage slots + 1 play-off slot, instead of 2 GS + 1 PO + 1 in the 2nd preliminary round.
Japan: 2 + 1 + 1 instead of 3 + 1. Exactly the reverse of China.
India: their team would go to the 2nd preliminary round, instead of the 1st.
Philippines: 1 slot in the 1st preliminary round.
Myanmar: their team would drop to the 1st preliminary round, instead of the 2nd. Exactly the reverse of India.

you gave UAE 2nd best ranking in NT points and UAE didn't take the second in FIFA ranking - AFC never in the last four years?
Is there other calculations for NT points?

  5. November 2016, considering scheduled matches as defeats. That's why UAE are second and Vietnam get more points than Hong Kong.
