FIFA Ranking: Final June preview on Monday

I will post the final preview on Monday since the many matches scheduled for this week-end will affect the ranking, although they are played after the official Thursday deadline.

See explanation below:

The 2012 June ranking will be published on 6 June. The official deadline for matches is 31 May. However, in the article connected to the May FIFA Ranking it says:

The June edition will undoubtedly bring more movement with it, as friendlies are played in Europe to warm up for UEFA EURO 2012 and another batch of 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ qualifiers influence the calculations.

The first qualifiers will take place on 1 June, after the official deadline, so for the June ranking I will use Sunday, 3 June 2012, as deadline for matches. Not sure if FIFA will do the same.

  1. Hi Edgar,

If you look at the FIFA prognosis tool,
    http://www.fifa.com/worldranking/rankingtools/prognosis.html
and look at France, they've the France-Estonia game listed for this group of games, so I'd say it's safe to assume they will use Tuesday, 5 June 2012, as deadline for matches.

    1. Hi Joseph,

No, that's a bug :) They display all games scheduled before the release date. They have done this since the ranking section was revamped, but they've never included games played after Sunday.

I should of known better than to try and educate the master :)
Works out better for Ireland, we'll have 907 points regardless of Hungary result(until July).

    1. No need for that "master" thing, Joseph - I'd rather not have gullible readers :)
