  2. Where do you read 1227 points as max. points voor Vietnam ? They will have 1224 points (on spot 100) in the November ranking.

    1. Well, that's not a reliable source then. Check the published ranking next Thursday and you will know for sure.

  4. Malaysia thrash Myanmar 3-0 but will move only maximum two places?

  5. So with only four games available to improve the FIFA rankings, these would be the European pots for the 2022 World Cup:

Pot 1: Belgium, France, Croatia, England, Portugal, Switzerland, Spain, Denmark, Sweden, Netherlands

Pot 2: Germany, Italy, Wales, Poland, Austria, Romania, Slovakia, Ukraine, Serbia, Ireland

Pot 3: Bosnia, Northern Ireland, Iceland, Scotland, Turkey, Czech Republic, Greece, Montenegro, Bulgaria, Norway

Pot 4: Russia, Hungary, Finland, Albania, Slovenia, Macedonia, Belarus, Luxembourg, Cyprus, Georgia

Pot 5: Israel, Estonia, Faroe Islands, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Latvia, Andorra, Lithuania

Pot 6: Moldova, Liechtenstein, Malta, Gibraltar, San Marino

    * Sweden passed Germany for a spot in pot 1.
    * The two most successful European teams in the World Cup are both currently in pot 2.
    * Russia is currently in pot 4 (versus pot 2 for Euro 2020).
    * Israel is currently in pot 5 (versus pot 3 for Euro 2020).
    * Romania is currently in pot 2 (versus pot 4 for Euro 2020).

  6. In the predictions , Egypt shall reach 1400 if they beat Tunisia and they did. Why in the final ranking you put egypt as 1393?

  7. The preview of Egypt reaching a maximum of 1400 points was calculated with a (at the time scheduled) friendly against United Arab Emirates on November 20th. That match was canceled later.
See the preview results used in the calculation of the preview.

  8. The result of the nations league match Guyana-Barbados, played on 6 september 2018, was changed in a 3-0 win for Guyana (due to player inelegibility case). Now we have the chance to see in january if Fifa, in such cases, will recalculate its ranking. Probably is enough to see what they do in the women ranking, but I have no kowledge at all about the WWR. If they will recalculate, this will change the points total for Barbados, Guyana, St. Vincent & Grenadines, El Salvador, US Virgin Islands, Turks & Caicos Islands, Bermuda and Haiti.
The worl-football elo ratings site has instead the consuetude to not recalculate its ranking, and this is an obvious flaw because the whole ranking is distorted by several matches with inelegible players on the pitch. As example, they mantained wrong results for the WC 2018 qualifiers, important matches Bolivia-Peru and Chile-Bolivia. In the same qualifiers, Timor-leste had several matches, in the preliminary round and in the group of the second round, with several inelegible players on the pitch. Fifa changed all their results in in a 0-3 defeat (the result was mantained only where the defeat was already with more than 3 goals), but they not recalculated.

  9. Thanks Jos, indeed something to keep an eye on.

In the old system they incorporated an awarded result from the first ranking to be calculated after the moment the punishment was announced. Already existing rankings were never adapted afterwards.
Let's see what FIFA will do in the December ranking, to be published on December 20th ....
