I'm not Dutch, really!
I've seen two articles in the Norwegian and Icelandic press mentioning the "the experts from football-rankings.info in the Netherlands" and "Dutch football statistics site football-rankings.info".
I'm pleased they did mention the source of their information (unlike the Scottish Daily Record - they keep forgetting), but there are two problems.

My first guest post on another blog
FilipinoFootball asked me to write something about Philippines' FIFA ranking.
Just to add something:
A list of ideal opponents for the month of May (based on Elo Ratings), that would bring the Philippines at least 200 points for a win:

I'm not very popular in Wales
BBC mentioned me again in one of their articles. The reaction in Wales was, well, not very benign.
Geek, mega-nerd, give him a smack, "I don't like you" and obviously the F-word salutation. :)
Apparently it's my fault Wales are in pot 6.
Couple of things to point out.
1. The newspapers said FIFA made an error. This is not 100% correct. We will never know if FIFA would have actually placed Wales in Pot 5.
2. I would have written similar articles if the situation would have been the other way around (i.e. Wales wrongly displayed below the Faroe Islands in the rankings).
3. I wrote to FAW on May 27 telling them they are in danger of falling in Pot 6. Actually, I wrote to all (yes, all) UEFA/CAF associations about the pots as soon as their team were locked in a pot.
4. Wales would have needed only a win against American Samoa in June or July in order to climb in Pot 5 at the expense of the Faroe Islands.
5. Wales could have asked me what they need to do to avoid Pot 6.
6. Who knows, maybe Wales and Faroe Islands will be in same group. Happened four years ago with Azerbaijan and Liechtenstein.
P.S. Something good came out of the BBC article. I got a job offer in London thanks to it. Won't be going though.

Great minds at STV Sports
And other Scottish media outlets as you'll see.
On 26 June - 2 days after I posted the final UEFA pots, STV Sport came up with this fine piece of journalism:
Scotland fall into pot four for 2014 World Cup draw
I wrote them asking them nicely to include the source. Here's what Mr. Robert Dawson Scott replied:
"Our story was compiled without reference to your site which, until your e-mail, we had never heard of. The information and coefficients are available to anyone to work out."
I then asked them to explain why they have Wales in pot 6 and Faroe Islands in pot 5 - just to show me they really did compute the rankings themselves. As you guessed, there were no further replies from the talented Mr. Scott.
My traffic stats tell me I've been getting a lot of visits from Glasgow, through the "Stv Plc" internet service provider. I also have a STV journalist following me on Twitter. I find it really hard to believe Mr. Scott's claims.
That's something Scottish media keep on doing lately. The Scotsman and Daily Record constantly use data from my blog and then don't reply to my e-mails when I write them about this issue. What's sad (for me) is that a journalist from the Daily Record actually asked me for information regarding Scotland's ranking and then the Daily Record published articles about this very subject but forgot to mention the source.

Pretty easy to understand. Probably not for Bonnie Mugabe of Rwanda's New Times. Mr. Mugabe copied data from this website and completely forgot to mention the source.

GSP: Cateva precizari
In primul rand, multumiri lui Ionut Iordache pentru articolul de duminica. Probabil nu mai aveau ce pune pe ultima pagina :)
Am reusit sa-l contactez pe Paul Zaharia prin intermediul lui Catalin Tudose de la Sport365. Acolo am publicat si un articol despre posibilitatea de a fi capi de serie in octombrie 2007.
In iunie 2008 am incercat din nou sa-i contactez pe cei de la FRF si am ajuns pana la urma sa discut la telefon cu Paul Zaharia, dar lucrurile s-au oprit aici. Ionut Lupescu chiar mi-a spus sa vin la federatie sa discut cu el.
Dupa ce Razvan Lucescu a devenit selectioner, am incercat din nou si am facut rost de adresa lui de e-mail apeland la Catalin Tolontan si Ionut Iordache. Probabil din lipsa de timp (sau interes) nu a raspuns la acele mesaje.
Sunt doua greseli in articolul lui Ionut.

- Eu am contactat acele federatii din CONCACAF si OFC, nu ele pe mine.
- Eu i-am explicat lui Razvan Lucescu cum Romania urca in clasamentul FIFA folosind meciurile amicale. Pentru a imbunatati coeficientul UEFA e suficient sa castigi meciuri in preliminarii.

This is actually the first time my blog is mentioned in the mainstream media. Outside of Romania, that is. Ionut Iordache mentioned my blog in Gazeta Sporturilor some time ago.
My blog is also mentioned in the Australian newspaper The Age. Thanks Dan Silkstone! He forgot to use the word prestigious though :) Jesse Fink also placed a link to my blog in one of his articles.
Also thanks to Aslak Bodahl from the Norwegian website Speaker.
Not so very impressed by Janex from The Roar, but hey!, it looks more impressive to your readers if they think you've computed the ranking by yourself. Keep up the good work Janex!
