  1. Egyptians were all over the FIFA World Rankings site enjoying their return to the top 10 last time. They'll be there even more I predict with this place gain. I'm looking forward to the reaction once the ACON matches devalue and their team will plummet down the ranking table as all they are left with is their poor performances after that tournament.

  4. @Budejaja

If this friendly would count for the december-ranking Bosnia-Herzegovina would loose 14 pts (from 596 to 582 pts) but they would stay on spot 44 in the ranking.

Poland would loose 2 pts (from 451 to 449 pts) and they would loose a spot also (from 72 to 73), a new all-time low for them.

  6. @Lorric: I'm afraid the Egyptians will enjoy the January ranking even more, because with the present matches they will overtake Portugal and go into 8th.

  7. The Philippines won a game against Vietnam and drew against Singapore and Myanmar all of which are rated higher than them, during this period. Why are you showing it having -1 points and the rating gong up only one.

Is that so? Well it will just make the drop all the more sweet when it comes, as they should be there in droves. I have nothing against them, and sympathise with them regarding their teams' ineptitude in World Cup qualifiers when they obviously have the ability to qualify, but everyone who's not an Egyptian knows with their weak performances they don't deserve such an elevated position. And yet they're acting like Kings, some of them saying they ought to be higher. Plus, I've never seen such a huge swarm of people from one country commenting before. Pride comes before a fall, and a big one is coming I think.

  9. Egypt will drop like a stone. I would be surprised if they could maintain a top 25 place when the March 2011 ranking is presented.

Of course, the size of the drop will depend on the results of their matches until the March 2011 deadline. As it stands, they will play 2 friendly matches: against Qatar on Dec 16 and against the USA on Feb 9. So a good result in those matches will soften the blow, but not very much.

  10. Never mind about Philippines. I figured it out.

I thought it would be February, but I don't know the exact dates, so I'll believe you.

If Egypt hit 8th, it will be the highest ranking ever for Egypt. So what a shock it will be once their ranking plummets.

At first I thought falling out of the top 25 seemed unlikely, but you may be right, just because they've been that bad, there will be little protection from their 100% set of results when their perfect ACON campaign gets halved in value. And I think the latest year is worth as much as all the other 3 put together, right?

Qatar are nothing. Haiti went to Qatar and won. Australia, who Egypt put away 3-0 crushed Qatar repeatedly in World Cup qualifying.

US however handled Egypt quite easily in the Confed Cup.

Qatar won 2-1! Ha ha, they must have got fired up from purchasing the World Cup! Look out World, Qatar is coming to kick some ass, ha ha!

    ReplyDelete
  13. @Lorric: the drop will occur in the February ranking. The ACON 2010 ended on January 31st. The 100% results for the February ranking will be from Februari 3rd, 2010. So in the February ranking, the Egyptians will lose over 400 points.

Wow. Over 400pts in February after hitting an all time greatest ranking of 8th in January.

So it is February huh? The reaction to that is going to be interesting...

That takes the US match out of the equation too.

Going by the rankings, they're looking at the mid 30s when that happens...

It will be as if someone says "Egypt 8th?! What the hell are you idiots doing?! Put them where they belong!"

why you hate egypt like that ?

and for ur info Qatar match is not ranking match cuz its not in fifa date and the fifa will not add point or remove points for it
the next fifa date match for egypt Vs USA in fifa date :P

egypt is African Champions 7 times and last 6 year egyption are the champions
whats ur country do at last 10 year ?

I don't hate Egypt. Read my 2nd comment.

I guess the blow will be softened a bit if Qatar is not ranked, but you're still looking at the 30s in February.

Best I can do to defend England in the last 10 years is say gone to 3 World Cups with two quarter final exits and a last 16 exit. And whether you like it or not, getting into the quarter finals of a World Cup is a greater achievement than being African Champion. Emngland have never been defeated in their entire history by an African side.

But I don't want to fight. I don't hate Egypt. I'm just amused that Egyptians actually think they merit that ranking and are talking themselves up like they're one of the great teams of the World. Peple outside of Africa don't think of Egypt when you think of great African teams, they think of Cameroon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Nigeria, teams which have come to the World Cup and shown their skills.

  18. Oh, almost forgot, beat Egypt before the World Cup. Thanks for the ranking points :)

I don't hate Egypt. Read my second comment on here.

Last 10 years? Three World Cups. Two World Cup quarter finals and a last 16. And whether you like it or not, a quarter final appearance at a World Cup is a greater achievement than being African Champion. And also, England have never lost to an African side in their entire history.

Talk to people outside Europe about good African teams, you won't hear about Egypt. You'll hear about teams like Cameroon, Nigeria, Senegal, Ghana, Ivory Coast, teams which have shown their skills at World Cups.

Not being punished for the Qatar loss will only soften the blow a little. You're still looking at the 30s in February in the rankings. Egyptians love to quote from the World Rankings. Let's see them quote then.

  21. hi guys, Egypt will lose neraly 400 points in the february ranking and sure it will be out of the top 25, but it will play agnist tanzania, kenya, uganda, and sudan in january in a friendly tournment in cairo. i wish it could beat them all and be prepared well for the U.S.A match and south africa match in february and march respectively because we need the most points of these matches to improve our ranking again and again............

  22. @Anonymous (Dec 18)

The Qatar match will be included. It doesn't matter if a match was played outside the FIFA dates. As long as it's considered official by both FAs and they followed FIFA's rules regarding substitutions, that match will be considered official.

    @Anonymous (Dec 19)

With wins against Tanzania, Keyna, Uganda and Sudan, Egypt would have 708 points (instead of 661) and would be 33rd instead of 35th. However, I'm not 100% sure this tournament will be considered for the FIFA ranking since it's used as preparation for CHAN (so no full teams).
