FIFA Ranking: February 2011 final preview

FIFA will publish the ranking on February 2nd.

Only two matches left - the final (Australia - Japan) and third place match (Uzbekistan - Korea Republic) of the 2011 AFC Asian Cup.

This is how the totals could change for these four teams.

Australia (Loss: 848, PSO loss: 871, PSO win: 894, Win: 917)
Japan (Loss: 824, PSO loss: 843, PSO win: 862, Win: 882)
Korea Republic (Loss: 703, PSO loss: 714, PSO win: 725, Win: 735)
Uzbekistan (Loss: 424, PSO loss: 453, PSO win: 482, Win: 512)

Australia could climb to 16th.
Japan could climb to 17th.
Korea Republic could climb to 32nd.
Uzbekistan could climb to 64th.

In the table below, the values displayed for these four teams are the lowest possible.

Australia will keep their status as AFC first team if they avoid a straight loss (in regular or extra time).

Egypt drop out of the top 10, replaced by Greece.

Best movers:

31 - Uzbekistan
23 - Jordan
21 - Iran and Costa Rica

Uzbekistan could climb higher if they avoid losing against Korea Republic.

Worst movers:

-22 - Egypt
-21 - Gabon
-20 - Zambia

Egypt could drop lower if Korea Republic don't lose against Uzbekistan.

Best climbers in the top 50:

21 - Iran and Costa Rica
17 - Honduras
6 - Australia and Korea Republic

Australia and Korea Republic could climb higher if they avoid losing their matches.

-22 - Egypt
-21 - Gabon
-19 - Algeria

Three teams will improve their best ever ranking:

Montenegro (24th - 25th in December 2010)
Belarus (36th - 37th in January 2011)
Hungary (37th - 41st in January 2011)

Montenegro will improve their ranking only if Japan lose against Australia.

Dominica will return to their best ever ranking - 128th - first achieved in November 2010.

Six teams will have their worst ever ranking:

Romania (57th - 56th in December 2010)
Saudi Arabia (82nd - 81st in July 2006)
Zambia (101st - 96th in October 2009)
Wales (116th - 113th in September 2000)
Singapore (142nd - 140th in October 2007)
Lebanon (172nd - 168th in January 2011)

Saudi Arabia drop out of the AFC top 5 (they are now 7th), replaced by China PR.

Egypt replaced by Ghana as top African team. Côte d'Ivoire up to 2nd. Algeria drop out of the top 5 (they are now 10th), replaced by Burkina Faso.

Costa Rica return to the CONCACAF top 5, with Cuba dropping out. Jamaica fall from 4th to 5th.
