  1. Germany and the Netherlands play a friendly in November. Could that one determine a new number two? Really looking forward to that match!

  2. Greece won Euro 2004 and it was only good enough for at best 9th?

  3. I wonder if for once the England bashing will ease off a bit and the focus will turn to the presence of Greece in 8th?

  4. Greece keeps on winning my friend, 16 games unbeaten with new coach. What about Norway as a top seed for next WCQ? Where they now? What would Wcq seeds have looked like if draw made in December like old days?

  5. @ Jim the Greek

    I thought that said "Jim the Geek" at first :)

    I have no problem with Greece, though I don't think you think I do, just making sure.

    This next ranking is the one that should have been used to seed the draw if you ask me. Cut the playoffs out of it.

    That question interests me too. So, we can see...

    Pot A: Spain, Netherlands, Germany, Italy, England, Greece, Portugal, Denmark (+1), Croatia

    Pot B: Russia, Sweden, France, Switzerland (+1), Bosnia-Herzegovina (+1), Serbia, Norway (-1), Republic of Ireland (+1), Turkey

    Pot C: Slovenia (-1), Hungary, Belgium, Israel, Montenegro (-1), Slovakia (-1), Wales (+3), Armenia (+2), Czech Republic

    Pot D: Scotland, Romania, Ukraine (-1), Estonia (+1), Belarus (-1), Poland, Georgia, Albania, Austria

    Pot E: Bulgaria (-1), Latvia, Finland, Northern Ireland (-1), Lithuania (-1), FYR Macedonia, Iceland (+1), Azerbaijan, Luxembourg (+1)

    Pot F: Cyprus (-1), Faroe Islands (-1), Moldova (-1), Liechtenstein, Kazakhstan, Malta, Andorra, San Marino

    Wales and Armenia got shafted the hardest.

    Looking at this from an England point of view, our group now contains a pot C, two pot Ds, and two pot Fs. Nice, nice... :)

    Your Greece group is looking nice too. Two Pot Cs, Two Pot Es and a Pot F.

    Group B has two pot As (Italy, Denmark), two pot Cs (Armenia, Czech Republic) and a pot E and F (Bulgaria and Malta.)

  6. Edit:

    Ukraine are pot C standard easily. Maybe even pot B. England's group isn't THAT easy! :)

    Poland, despite being handicapped by hosting Euro 2012 like Ukraine, haven't done anything to convince me they are not in their correct pot.

  7. thanks Lorric. actually Greece group includes a Pot B, Bosnia. funny we played them in 0-0 draw right after the wcq draw.

  8. You're welcome.

    Oops, for some reason I got into my head that you had Slovakia and Slovenia I think.

    Thinking about Wales, even as a pot F, their group is not bad. They could easily have been put into a worse position from a new draw from the pot C position. If Croatia lose to Turkey, they'll be in a group that contains no teams that were at Euro 2012. And only one that even made the playoffs. Funny how things work out sometimes.

  9. I don't get this ranking. Turkey lost to Gremany and they beat Azarbaijan (97th place). Both at home. Got 49 point for both games.

    Bosnia beat Luxembourg (114th place) at home and drew with France away. Got 25 points.

  10. Bosnia was damaged in the French unjust decision of the judge, and should pass on his game

  11. @Anonymous (Germany vs. Netherlands)

    Germany could indeed overtake the Dutch, but it also dependends on Switzerland and Ukraine.

    @Lorric

    Re: Greece - that's how the FIFA rankings are sometimes.
    Wales would indeed have had a more difficult group.

    @Anonymous (Turkey/Bosnia)

    Devaluation of points.

    Greece 8 place a JOKE they are there just because they won against croatia..

    Beating Georgia was also important (92.73 points). Croatia (130.23), Israel (114.55), Nigeria (WC 2010 - 76.42) and the win against Ukraine in 2010 WC playoffs (51.35) are the other games in the top 5.
